S/G double pulley
I'm helping my neighbor with his 169 PTO and noticed his starter generator has a double pulley. One V-belt goes to the crankshaft as one would expect, but where would the second V-belt go? Could it be the previous owner put on a rebuilt S/G with the wrong pulley?
On the carb side of the frame, is a bracket that holds a pulley for a flat belt. What is that for? Both pulleys seem to line up, but before I could get a photo and take a closer look to be sure they lined up, he took the hood and front grill housing off to get better access to the PTO crankshaft. (We have been trying to get the old bearing and locking collar off for nearly a week.) One of the photos shows the flat belt pulley in the approximate location it was mounted. The bracket is held in place by front left bolt that holds the cast iron grill housing to the frame. The photo may seem a bit confusing because there is a narrow frame CC in the background. Yup this looks like some sort of PO mod. It would be interesting to see what originally went there. The flat pulley on the bracket looks like an idler to me.
