Turning the turn buckle is not how you adjust neutral. Check the SM again for "neutral adjustment".

I wasn't adjusting neutral, I know to adjust neutral with the cam bracket. I turned it to see if the wheels would stop turning in reverse. The cam bracket is all the way up to the top. Neutral is fine when you are in forward and apply the brakes.

Mowed with this tractor yesterday. Started out ok, still had the movement of the shifter, 1" before forward movement and 1&1/4" before rearward movement. Sometimes just a small movement of the shifter resulted in slow movement of the tractor, then without moving the shifter, fast speed. As the mowing continued, it was taking more movement of the shifter to climb grades. Sometime it seemed as if the hydro was in forward and reverse at the same time. I could feel the tractor fighting it's self. The engine would also start to lug down. I would disengage the pto, apply the brakes and sometimes it would come back to normal operating. Several times I had to disengage the pto and place shifter all the way forward, drive a few feet and tractor would operate normally. I have ordered new springs and pins for the trunion and will swap out the auto relief valves for manual valves and see what happens.

Last night I changed out the relief valves, with 2 valves that I soaked overnight in diesel fuel, then blew them clean with air, now I have forward movement as soon as I move the shifter, but the shifter is moved all the way down in reverse before I get movement.

Parked both 1450s side by side and started measuring linkage. I found the linkage on #1 was on the outside plate on the hydro, between the plate and the frame. the linkage on #2 was on the plate closest to the hydro. Changed the linkage and now I have better reverse. I think the friction needs to be tightened because the shifter walks in reverse, I mean really walks. The hydro still isn't correct, but it's 75% better than it was.

Most times I 've seen the plastic split bushing is missing on the cam plate stud.
