Default But it followed me home!

My wife told me a couple of weeks ago I needed to start looking for a winter project for me and my youngest son since he wants to help now. So I went to look at part of a 782 and a Wheel Horse but I found this 1811 on Craigslist and decided to look at it first.
It has been sitting for ten years with and engine problem. Needs hydro lever, tie rod ends, front tires, screen around the headlights, and a seat. Engine turns half a turn each way then hits something. No obvious holes in block and frame and engine compartment are dry as a bone, no sign of old oil leaks. I gave the guy $200, I figured the sheet metal was worth that.
Yeah I officially have "Yellow Fever".

I might have posted this in the wrong area. Was the 1811 an IH Cub?

I would have give $200 for that myself. You will enjoy working on it and the satisfaction of fixing it up.

Hopefully something is not wrong with the engine causing the problem of not rotating. I have seen mouse nests packed in the blower housing so tight it would cause that problem. Also seen some magnets behind the flywheel get loose and jam against the engine. Could be something in the driveline.

Good luck with it and don't get discouraged !!!!

Yeah I think this is the one we needed. The 782 was the same price but was missing the side panels and deck plus had engine problems. The only thing I found missing was what I listed. I checked it out tonight and it had almost new filters and oil including the hydro. An old service sticker under the hood showed last service was 4/15/2003 which matches the date within a month the seller said his grandfather parked it. He is going to go through his grandfathers things because he thinks he has all the owners manuals and paperwork where his grandfather bought the tractor and had the dealer service it.

i am mowing with a 1811 that i rehabbed this winter.
it runs smoother and quieter than the single cylinder 1210 i had and has the hydraulic lift which is a nice feature.
good luck with yours.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
