Model 100 subframe question
On my Model 100 mower deck subframe, there are two metal pieces welded to each side. They have been on the frame since my dad bought the tractor and deck in 1977. We bought it from the original owner who bought it new. I don't believe it was added by the PO, since I knew what equipment he had available, and a welder was not one of them. Any ideas? Anyone have a Model 100 frame that has the same "attachments"?

That is the remnants of the sheet metal brace that used to tie the two sides together. My 100 was the same when I got it and I made a new piece and welded it on. It's only been on there for 3-4 years and the corners are already cracked. The newer subframes used thicker metal and they seamed to hold up better.

You're welcome.
The roller helped a lot. These old cast end decks are bad about scalping the yard with the front being cut away. I enclosed the front of mine to keep it from throwing clippings out the front. The tractor and my shoes stay much cleaner now.

When I first started working on my deck, I was wondering if my dad or the PO had trimmed metal away from the front of the deck since you can see the blade extend below the edge of the deck front. How unsafe is that?!? But now that I see that your deck has the same cutout, I am feeling better about it.
