I have a 44C deck on my 1811 and the problem I have with it and every other mower I have ever owned is that I cannot mow back and forth on a hill side and get consistent passes because of the mower deck tipping on the down hill side. The narrow support system used to raise and lower the deck is the cause and the fact that the deck is not balanced from one side to the other. I have tried just about everything including an electric actuator to raise and lower one side of the deck. The problem is that when I am on the side of the hill I cannot determine where neutral with the tractor is as to the deck angle. If you want to see what I'm talking about just raise your deck and push down on either side and you will see what I mean. It will be easier to push it down on one side than the other. It is usually the discharge side that is longer and heavier and if I try to pre-load it to be neutral then the other side will tilt if it is on the down hill side. I have tried the wheels down approach and do not like that because I lose the depth control. I agree that any four wheel mower like a zero or a tow behind will always out cut a deck mower. There is just no way to make the deck and the tractor maintain a 90 degree relationship with the deck raising system on them. Any ideas out there?
