Well I just set the engine in the tractor and it should fit. Right now it is just sitting on the cross member and the jack. I will have to find a new place to mount the alternator it was sticking out to far it its original location. There is about 2 inchs between the engine and the hood at the closest spot so there should be enough space for the engine mounts. I need to know the distance from the flat of the flywheel to the axle cross member or some other reference point. I need to know this so I can get the engine in the proper location so the PTO will work.

I know about the fuel tank I have not gotten around to finding one yet. One thing at a time. I have big plans for this guy I just want to get the engine in first. Then for the hydro lift I have been watching the post on the 3 spool hydro valve. But in order to do hydro lift I will have to get a ported pump. So the list of needed things goes on.

Sorry for the lack of posts on this project. I have however progressed some. I got a PTO for the diesel with the adapter plate. However it would not fit in the flywheel. My bother was able to get in on a lathe at his work and cut it out wider. I then drilled the five mounting holes and taped them. Here it is all mounted up.

I have an idea. Instead of scrapping the old engine, send it to me. That would be awesome.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
