I need a sanity check...where is the sight hole on a k321?
I was about to use Matt's K-Series Static Ignition Timing instructions to set the timing on my 149 but I can't find the sight hole on the flywheel cover. This is my first 14hp tractor other are all 10hp and 12hp, those I find right were I would expect them, but the 14hp doesn't have a hole on either side. |

Look over by the S/G mounting bracket. Follow along and below the bracket and there it is, a little less than dime size. If the S/G is off you can't miss it.

I think I found it, not a round hole in the flywheel shroud, but a cresent shaped "notch" in the bearing plate, and WOOHOO I finally got a spark!!!!!
Now I just need to fix the spark plug threads in the head and we will see is this bugger will start....mouse nest in the flywheel sure does stink!!! Good news, since I pulled the head off I got to clean up the carbon, and I found that it still has standard bore so me sees a rebuild in the future! I also picked up some 10-24 1/4" cap bolts, putting it back together with a hex key is a whole lot easier than flat head screws. |

Here is a pic. Note the TDC is "OC", and the timing mark is "SP"

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
