OK here we go. Another thing to think about is, if the radiator is by the steering column where will you put your battery or fuel tank?

Thanks DX3 for the pics. I'm starting to understand more now. Just curious is the 782D's crank a keyed 1" shaft?

It's a stub shaft that bolts on to the flywheel. It's probably 1" but I don't know for sure...never had mine off.
Any of that fan stuff could be made with steel plate and angle iron, some pillow blocks for the fan shaft, etc. Nothing overly complex about it. |

I had to replace the fan bearings in my 882. I used a Grainger part #1L041. That is a .75" shaft with a 1.625" OD. Rich Patton was parting a diesel last fall but the parts may be gone by now. Like Matt said, you could fab up a piece of steel and use pillow block bearings. The blade is still avialable from Kubota but the bracket was Cub and NLA. I don't think it would be too hard to make one. Here are some pics when I did mine.

Wondering if a high amp maybe 105 GM alternator would work and allow me to run electric fan and PTO? Isn't a factory 782D alt around 30-40 amp?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
