Can someone guide me in the right direction...
Ever since I pulled the motor in the 129 (to fix a leaky oil pan gasket) I havent been able to get the throttle cable set right. It'll either be: Pull the throttle down and it dies but allows me to use full throttle lever motion... OR... full throttle at about the halfway mark on the lever and high idle when pulled all the way down to low. I just cannot seem to get it right and it annoys me. Is there anything else I should be adjusting? Like the governer linkage/spring?? HELP lol Thanks in advance, Rob

I think you just need to secure the cable's cover with the clamp at a point half way between the two extremes you've described. It's a matter of compromise. Don't worry about the position of the lever itself-- you just want to get full motion of the throttle linkage on the carb. Lever position doesn't need go fully up and back within the lever slot.

Wasn't sure if there was a special trick to it or not. Thanks for the input!

Rob to set the throttle the carb should be all the way open and tighten the cable down. If the low end is to low there is a idle adjustment screw on the carb. Set that to where it will still idle and your done.

Yes, I have it pretty close now. Been dealing with float issues but I finally got both problems straightened out. Thanks for the input, guys.

Still tinkering with the throttle a bit, mainly the idle, but I've got it close enough to take it and the 782 to Chambersburg for the spring tractor show in the morning!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
