Default Front Wheel Bearings

Anyone have the NAPA part numbers for the front wheel bearings? They are for the 1872. Thanks!

Allen, the 1" bearings from NAPA are part# 7-08412. Are you getting ready for RNPD?

Default Front wheel bearings

I have a 122 and the right front wheel eats bearings. I noticed that the wheel was loose, so I took the wheel off and found the outer bearing was nothing but steel pieces. Since then I have put two bearings in and both ended up separating the outer from the inner ring and ball bearings are everywhere.

bearing seems to fit snug inside wheel and around spindle.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Are you using a good quality bearing?

Default Bearing quality

Both times I purchased the bearings from the Cub cadet dealer. Not sure how good that quality is though.- Any suggestions on other source for the bearing?

I have used two bearings on my tractors, the Cub bearings and the NAPA bearings. Two observations. I like sealed bearings better, but since most bearings are made in China, I don't trust the sealed bearings, because I can't see what lube was used. Also, the NAPA bearings that I used were just sllightly smaller in diameter than the cub bearings. They fit snugly by hand into the rim, but is not a press fit like the cub bearings.

Take your cub brearings to a NAPA store and ask them to cross referencwe them or measure the outer race. Then order a bearing or two based upon that measurement.

BTW, I bought a cub bearing for my PTO. Put it on and had problems with PTO slippage. Opened up the PTO and found that the clear grease from the sealed bearing spun out of the bearing and coated the pressure plates, Instant slip. No indication of defect on the bearing.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
