Congrats on your 1806! It and the 782 will make nice tractors for you. For future reference, please post about your 1806 in CCC/MTD built GT's section.

I vote for putting an engine in the 782 and gettin it goin. I pickup up a clunker 782 that I'm rebuilding, trust me stripping one down and painting it is a lot of work. You don't have to paint this one so you are are half way there already. Hubcaps are hard to come by, you have those. You have the sleeve hitch. Give this old tractor a new lease on life!

I'd pull the engine out of the 1806 and put it in the 782. Then you'd pretty much have a brand new 782 with an engine that was better than the original series I.
![]() Then you could hold onto the 1806 and eventually find a different power plant.

I'd say keep the 1806 like it is and find another engine for the 782. The Mag 18's are sweet!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
