Steering column fixed, moving on to front axle.

Hello everyone! First, I would like to thank you all for all of the advice you've given me on fixing the steering column on my cub cadet 123. I ordered parts and recently took it apart, cleaned it, put on new ball bearings and races, re-greased it, and adjusted it so there is very little play in any direction. Now, along with the bearings and races, I purchased a front axle pivot pin. I read that removing the axle and replacing the pin would be somewhat difficult. Any advice or ideas on doing this would definetely be appreciated. I am trying to do this without removing the engine (or anything else), if possible. Any ideas or advice?

jack the tractor up just to get the front wheels off the ground. theres a roll pin on the front of the axle pin that needs to be pushed out. then push the axle pin from the front backwards and that's it.

You will need a pin punch (roll pin punch if you can get one) to knock out the spiral pin. that will release the large pivot pin that holds the axle in. You might want to add a shim or two to tighten up the axle in the channel when you reinstall it to improve steering response.
