I'd run 'er till she snaps then get another one. OR get another one to have as a back up when you do snap it.

It might be brazed, file a spot on it and see what color it is. I'm far from an expert but I've read brazing cast is easier then welding and when done right stronger then the cast itself.
If it were me i'd run over a few chuck holes at speed and if nothing happened I wouldn't give it a second thought. But then again having a back up axle lying around your shop is a sure fire way to make sure this one never breaks

If the preparation before welding, using the correct welding rods (nickel welding rods) and the right temp of preheat, a cast iron weld can be just as strong as a mild steel weld. I would suggest you replace that axle if you aren't exactly positive how it was welded

I have used the tractor hard over the summer and winter puching dirt and snow.
It's stood up fine so far. I would just use it, but be on the look out for a replacement at bargain price, to be kept as a spare.
