Some auto parts stores will lend tools, you may be able to borrow a gage. I think Matt G did a write up on how to time those Oldies, look in the tech section.

UPDATE:
Well, After 3 feet of snow, The second O I got has been outside under a tarp... I figured its been outside for 30 years, whats another week. ![]() I got it to fire off today, Only ran it for a few seconds, but I have ALOT of fuel leaks. Coming out from the sediment bowl, from the fuel line between the 2 as well as out of the carb bowl. I am at the point of almost giving up on these Carbs. I rebuild them and they still leak, now obviously I am doing something wrong but i put the gasket where the old ones were and so forth... idk, it pisses me off when you put it back on and it leaks like a siv. I ordered a new sediment bowl and another carb rebuild kit. I am in need of a fuel line though, I suppose I could make one and get some tubing and flair the ends instead of the press fittings, anyone know where to get those gaskets for inside each end of the fuel line...? Enough Rambling, Thanks for reading! ![]()

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
