Caught off guard
I am quite disappointed in myself as I have been completely caught off guard with this above average snow in sw Indiana. I have been telling myself to get my QA-42 snowthrower mounted up and functioning, as well as my 42" blade. Well needless to say, neither have happened. I can't even get my 108 up from behind my house into the driveway to put my blade on. I have no tire chains or extra ag tread tires to put on, so even if I had the thrower and blade mounted, with the drifts that we are getting around here, I'd probably be stuck any way. Looking forward to seeing more pics from others in the snow.

Yes there is something to be said about the old Boy Scout motto of "Be Prepared". I was prepared but with untested equipment. I had mounted Firestone AGs earlier this fall on my 2084 and had my son's 551 blower on it too. Last night came the big test. Everything passed. I would give the 551 an A and the Ags did well even uphill or backing up without the chains. I did get a little wheel spin but overall things went well. I would come to help you out but still have some drives and parking areas to clear here.

Got some redemption. Friday evening enough snow had melted that I was able to get the 108 up to the driveway were I could mount the blade and play a bit. Despite running turf tires with no weight or chains, I was able to clear most of my drive. Then we got lucky and got several more inches Friday night, so I got to do it all again Saturday morning. Cleaned all the driveway again and was able to get out on the blacktop county road. It did really well on the blacktop. I've attached a few pictures.

Nice pics there.
It is amazing how well the tractors work without the chains. I am going to try and go completely.........hmmm "chain free" this year. Had the driveway sealed last year and the chains really scarred it up bad. So this year I am going to lower the tire pressure and see how well I can do.

Amazes me how tuff these old machines are and will still start and operate even when left out in the elements for years. They deserve a cover at least to help keep moisture out of things
I see a fellow who burns a lot of wood at his place on a road I drive on every day to work.He hauls his wood in a small trailer from a pile at the back of his property up to his house. What pulls the trailer is a 149 with a dirt blade and chains which stays parked near the back door uncovered in the rain,sleet,snow etc all winter.I do see an extension cord going to the tractor for a trickle charger I suppose but it breaks my heart to see this old workhorse rusting away but still doing it's job. Funny thing is in the summer time he mows with an older wheelhorse and that to sits out in the rain the whole summer but the 149 is nowhere to be seen.lol

The 108 starts very well in the cold (so far). Cranks about one time and bangs right off.

I hate to see tractors outside in the weather. My tractors all stay in buildings, my cars and truck are outside.
My 108 used to push snow before I got the big Ford, and it did great. But that was 30 years ago (got the Ford in 1983). So it's been on grass duty ever since. I run chains on it all the time due to hilly terrain around the house.
