Just make sure the follower bottoms out by touching the sides (outside corners) of the groove in the gear.
You don't want it to drop all the way through until the nose touches the bottom of the groove.

Thanks guys needed the encouragement ...Im putting her together the evening and we'll see how she works....Easton I left 3/16 gap on the bottom just so she wouldnt bottom out...and mocked it up in the shaft as I went to make sure it rode evenly in the grove as far as the tapper goes..
