Looks pretty clean from here. Good that you got the air cleaner, now for the muffler, right?

I wish it was an 800 air cleaner. The air cleaner pictured is from a 1450, its too big for the 8hp engine. It has the correct muffler but I need the box, the air cleaner, and the smaller starter. The spark plug hole is stripped out, but I have another head for it. My plan is to get the engine back in the tractor and get it running and see how it sounds. Then I can determine what I should do next.

Ryan,
Thanks for posting the pics. I thought the cleaner looked a little big. Keep your eyes open. You'll find the right air cleaner, starter, and cast muffler box piece you need. Remember, the actual muffler box is the same as the other quietlines. The different piece is the cast aluminum piece that bolts to the block.

It has two different offset rims in the front but they are both the wide rim type.

Here's a little update on the 800...

Over Thanksgiving Break, I installed the engine. I had it all ready to wire up, and I noticed the spark plug hole in the head was stripped and had way too big of a plug in it. So, knowing I had a vast array of spare parts, I pulled the head off. Here i find the piston in the cylinder sideways! This dampened my hopes a little bit....but I thought, "Heck, I'll just order a kit and have it ready to put together in a few days...

So, I wait a few days and pull the motor again and tear it apart. Looks like a PO over revved the daylights out of it...piston destroyed and skirt was laying in the pan. Pull out what is left of the piston...feel the bore, and its got a HUGE gouge in it....030 wouldnt take it out...

So, I sit with a destroyed 800 block and a rolling chassis.

But, with my smart ingenuity and VAST parts stash that I have accumulated (HAHAA) I had a great idea. I had a complete 8hp K181 out of an 86 that I wasnt using. I took on the endeavor of pulling the 800 crank, stator, bearing plate and flywheel off the original motor and adding them to the 86 engine. I used the 800 rod and the 86 piston, plus the 800 PTO. It all went back together very nicely. I threw it in the tractor and fired it up. Keep in mind I never ran the 86 engine. It runs well! The carb needs a kit and fine adjustments, but it has plenty of power. The next big thing will be the ISO mounts. They need replaced. Also needed a key switch...

So, all in all, I ended up making the 800 run again, but it took a little creativity. Here in the next few days I'm going to replace the key switch, ISO mounts and do some fine tuning and get it back on the move. sorry, didn't have time to get any pics of this, but I'm sure Ill get a few over break.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
