Default New to Forum

Hello Everyone I am Indyjeepnut aka Andy. I am new to site. Just thought I would drop in and say hello.

Background on me.
I have been mowing with a Cub cadet GT1554 that I bought basically new four years ago . Every time I mow I spend 3 hours mowing and an hour fixing the tractor. I finally got fed up so I told the wife I was either going to spend 15K on a new Cub/Yanmar or go retro. Like any good wife would she said go retro. So in the last 30 days I have bought 3 cubs. Tractor #1 is a 1979 1650 with just a deck. Tractor #2 is a 127 with deck, 1A tiller and a 42A snow thrower. I basically just bought for the implements. Tractor #3 is a 125 with just a deck. My goal is to buy sell and trade until I get all the goodies that I want for my 1650. Then maybe find a candidate to restore.

Welcome to OCC,
Sounds like you have gone wild buying CUBS! You do get attached to the little buggers. I bought a 147 that was running but rough ( had a 12 hp replacement engine) with mower deck and working electric lift for $200. I gave this unit to my son Eric and he was going to do the same thing as you go out and buy a "NEW" one for lots of money. Instead he chose to restore the 147 and it is a very good looking dependable machine at about 1/4 the cost.
Have fun. You came to the right place.
Regards,
Chris

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
