Default 782 mower deck height

OK so I'm new here I have always been a lurker ever since I got an original but recently I picked up a ccc 782 that has the 50 in deck. The problem I'm having is the deck sits to low for the grass I have to mow. The highest cut I can get is about 1.5 maybe 2 inches which seems way to little considering twice I have hung the tractor up by its deck on assorted obstacles. I'm trying to find out is this normal or do I have a problem I'm not seeing that isn't allowing the deck to raise fully. Mind you the area I'm mowing was previously mowed by a 18hp Honda rider of the same similar size but that mowers deck raises twice as high. I had big hopes for the 782 but so far have been disappointed.

Got pics of your deck hangers and setup? Pics of the 982 would be nice as well.

I am terribly sorry, i dont know why i said it was a 982 its a 782. the tractor is actually about 3 hours from me right now on a piece of property my family owns, ill have to get pictures of the hangers when i get down there. I was thinking that it was probably just normal (Is it?) and i was gonna get yelled at for mowing fields with a mower meant for lawns. the fields were all grown up with head high grass and scrub brush when we got it 8 years ago but have been brush hogged down since and look good but occasionally roots pop up/are uncovered and are what are causing me problems. but regardless here it is with the hydraulic blade mounted. the blade is a little rough.

The 782 is a sturdy built GARDEN TRACTOR and it will do ground tilling when asked.
it is built quite a bit stronger than lawn tractors.
As far as the deck height, they are known for not going very high.
I modifyed mine to go as high as possible by making a special pin
@ the lift cyl linkage but I only gained an inch @ best.
I mow some places where I shouldn't, and never broke anything other than hitting boulders and chunking the blades.
If you just use common sence you will not hurt it.

Thanks for the pics! I've edited your title to 782 to stop any confusion.

i did ALL my mowing with my 782 this season and loved every minute of it. im not sure whats different buy mine goes about 4" high all the way up. its not real high but works ok for me. if your getting hung up a lot check the lift setup under the tunnel cover and see if its set up to float or not. you need a floating lift for mowing or you'll hate it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
