I looked at a 149 a while back w. deck which the man was asking $9oo. It seeemed high but I sort of know the the guy. He was a mechanic and everything he had was super maintained and looked almost as new. If I could a , Id have paid his price cause there just can be a better machine than it was. And it had never been altered or painted.

That sounds like a good buy to me. At least in this area.
I paid $125 for my Brinly plow, and I see them for $100-150 all the time. So figure $100 for the plow, you get a Cub Cadet with a replacement engine (maybe newer than the tractor) and wheel weights for $270. A running tractor with a deck that you can mow with today, for $270 sounds good to me.

Yes, there are plenty of guys on here that will tell you about the old widow who paid them to take away their 3 digit Original with 7 hours on the meter, and threw in a home made apple pie. No one brags about the $500 tractor that doesn't run.

That's a great deal! It's a nice 70. The grill is from a 71.

That's a Sears plow and 3-point cobbled on there. I don't think those Sears plows bring what a Brinly does.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
