OK Fellas, the 1650 lives!!!
I brought it home a week ago and was able to get about 2 hours of seat time on it before leaving for vacation. I am well pleased with the work Kevin did on the rebuild. Here is what he ended up doing; 1. New piston and rings. Did not need to bore cylinder. Was well within tolerances. 2. New connecting rod, and turned crank to fit. Machine shop work on the crank was impressive. 3. New gasket kit. (of course) 4. New carburator. (NICE) 5. New paint. (Looks professional) 6. Tuned the finished product. Piston and rings, gasket kit and rod was Kohler brand, carb was Wallbro. I am home from vacation but did not get home in time to put some more seat time on the Cub. I am planning to run it some tomorrow. After bringing it home I did change the oil after I ran it for about an hour. Kevin had run it for about 2 hours before turning it over to me. I opened the oil drain, and let it drain and drip for about 2 hours to get all the bad stuff out, and then put in fresh Lubrication Engineers 30 weight motor oil. The 341 has alot of torque and since it did not come from the factory with balance gears, it shakes a little like a rubber mounted Harley Davidson engine, so thats no problem for me. I am used to that. So now the Cub has a fresh engine, new carb, new iso mounts, new upgraded and strengthened front end with 1" spindles, new hydro oil and filter, and more money invested than I had planned but the Cub should last a long long time and give me alot of smiles. Next is the dozer/snow blade and a fresh coat of paint and decals. All the hard work is done! Hooray!!!!!!! |

![]() OK Sam, I have made arrangements to have a friend post some pics for me. This is something I will work on this week. The only thing that may get ahead of it is if I am able to get the blade early on, say monday, tuesday or so. After that, yes definetly pic time ![]() |

Great to see you getting the 1650 going. Mine is still in pieces. Turns out someone had swapped out the 16hp engine for a 14. I found a 16 hp engine from a 1650 tractor and have it on the shelf for a future rebuild. Right now I'm busy tinkering with a 109 and of course those other color tractors...
![]() Looking forward to seeing some pics. Take care, Bill

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
