I have a good running 12hp in my old 129 with all sorts of wore out parts and am wondering if it will drop in place of the 12hp in the 126. The 126 is weak but has manual and the 129 is a wore out hydro. Any thoughts??

Should bolt right up, with the driver, and any other gear drive specific parts on the new engine.

It should work fine. You might have to switch out the blower cover because the coil rides higher on the blower cover on the 129 (due to wideframe) than on the 126. Don't know if the higher coil will interfere with fuel tank, etc. or not. The fuel tank bracket also bolts onto the blower cover for the 126 IIRC (not really a narrow frame guy, sorry

Josh is correct. You will have to change over the blower housing if not the coil wire will hit the glass fuel bowl. The tank bracket will bolt up to the 129 blower housing due to the fact that the clips for the coil wire use bolts to be attached to it instead of studs. Blab blab blah

Thanks guys I thought it would, both are k301A engines, this is a last resort thought. Vince O is coming by Saturday to help me try and get this hydro working right. It shifts fine but all the linkage is very loose and wore out, I'd like to keep them where they are because the 126 is going to peices soon enough. Going to rebuild the engine, replacing most everything in it, shave the head/block, larger piston the whole nines. Then the newly rebuilt creeper, 28" lugs out back and most likely some 4 bolt hubs up front. I am trying to get more ground clearance and power to deal with the clay we have around here. Going to clean up the body/frame and a fresh coat of color. Still trying to decide whether to go yellow/white or orange/white...either way she will be one sheet looking ride, no trailer queen a work horse but just may make it to the show from time to time. For now tho I just need a grass slinger..lol

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
