Default I'd really love to mow my field...

I bought a used 99 2150 AGS. It runs great but does a couple odd things.

First to start it you have to turn the key back and forth a few times until it decides to kick over. Once it does, it fires up beautifully. Then when its running I pull the PTO clutch switch and the mower fires up. After somewhere between 5 and 60 seconds later it kicks off. Seems electrical.

I figured it was a safety switch so I disconnected the seat switch wires. It was a miracle I ran the mower for an hour and got my field mower. Then it kicked off on me again and its just as bad as ever if not worse. So now I'm not sure what is going on. I thought that was the only safety switch for the clutch. The brake switch might be for the ignition issue but why is the PTO cutting off? If anyone has a wiring diagram or a good guess I'm really hoping to be able to do more than pull my trailer around.

Thanks
Steve

Try cleaning/tighten the connector @ the back of the Ign switch, as it sounds like an intermittent connection, but not familiar with your model.

I see the back of the switch is melted it looks like in places. I'm guessing that can't be good. I'm not sure how to get to the switch and how to remove it though. Anyone out there ever remove one of these?

I'll start looking for a new one.

thanks

Great news. Ignition Switch did the trick. It starts up every time with no issues and the PTO stays engaged like its supposed to. I hooked back up the seat safety switch and still haven't had an issue. Its nice to have a tractor with everything working. I've been putting it to good use. My wife makes fun of me for tootling around in it all weekend.

Thanks

Steve

If the pto keeps kicking off after a few min of running and all the conections are good. Make sure your batt is fully charged. It can say 12 v on a meter but still have a bad cell not leting it charge fully. There for the pto will suck so many amps that the charging system cant put it back fast enough, then kicking out the pto. Youd be surprised how many pto switches we sell and key switches, but they arnt burned, turns out to be a bad batt.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
