id say go for it put all the "goodies" on the 782 1 reason is how many 782's do you see with power steering and dual brakes? 2 if its something you want to do go for it as a person who just did a motor swap on a 1862 it was the best thing I did, i took out the M18 that kept giving me problems and put in a 18hp briggs I cant tell you how many people told me to fix the Kohler and use it but im not a fan of kohler I like my briggs flatheads and I have not had one problem out of that briggs since then. starts every time, runs great, has plenty of power to run the 50in deck, and best of all it dont leak oil. My 1862 has power steering and I too have alot of trees and flower beds to mow around and the power steering helps, it also turns alot sharper and is easier to move around things with it.....so in the end go for it cant wait for pictures

![]() I am moving ahead rebuilding the KT17II, and swapping over the goodies from the 2072. I will add more pictures when I have done enough work to warrent them. As of late I have just been cleaning up from the flood and getting all the 2072 leftovers listed on CL. A good flood clean up will make you start to get rid all the crap you have sitting around! ![]() ![]() Thanks everyone for the interest and encouragement. ![]() ![]() |

Really not too awful bad, I need to fire up the mig welder yet, and run a few beads, that was my biggest concern.
There was a file cabinet with service manuals in the bottom drawer, those are toast. The lift is fine, no issues, all the floor jacks got a good does of PB blaster. Other than that it was just a hassle removing everything, powerwashing all the mud out, and putting it all back. We were very lucky it was just our shop, a lot of people had cars under water, basements with 18" of water in them. One friend lived in a lower level apartment, she had 5' of water in her place. |

something i just noticed you might have to move your oil filter if you are going to be putting the power steering on the 782 I know on my 1862 most of the space around the dash is taken up by the box on the steering column and the lines for the P.S.(power steering)

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
