Question Hydro ?:

I was mowing with my CC149, going up a little grade and the tractor stopped moving. I moved the hydro handle up and away we went. Also when turning sharp in either direction it stops moving. I had just changed the filter (CC hydro filter) and check the fluid level. Any ideas/suggestion as what the problem maybe will be appreciated. Thank you for time. Don B.

Is this something new?, or have you just purchased the 149 and you have no past experience with it? Just trying to get some history. It sounds like you may need to do a neutral and possibly a linkage adjustment. I am taking it that you used a Cub hydro filter and the correct Hytran fluid? Have you checked the trunion on the hydro to see if it is worn bad? If so a bit of weld build up and new springs will be needed.

Below are some links for hydro issues:

DX3, Thank you for your reply. Yes this problem is fairly new. I had this this tractor for about five years. Mostly used for snow plowing and tiller work. This is the first time I put the deck on (48"), as I use my CC127 for mowing, governor gear went out of 127, so I decided to use the 149. I noticed that while tilling last year the tractor (149) would stop or slow down. I have tighten up the hydro handle and and done the neutral adjustment, also pulled the center cover and did not see any signs on the trunion that is shown in the trunion link that you posted. Used the correct hydro filter (923-3014) and Hytran fluid. Sorry for long post, but I am trying to give you most information to go on. Thank you for your time. Don B.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
