I know for you veteran cubbies this may be a dumb question, but what is the "clutch" assembly that the driveshaft mounts too called? Where can I get this assembly reasonably priced? And finally where can I find the instruction on how to remove it and replace? I know one of you super fans know exactly how to do this without pulling your hair out...Thanks guys...

First thing: We need to know what model tractor you are working on.
If you go to the technical section http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/f...der=asc&page=2 you can down load the manual for your tractor. Your question, "what is the "clutch" assembly that the driveshaft mounts too called?" is worded in such a way that I don't know how to answer (please understand that I'm not beating up on you here) I just am not sure what the actual question is. And finally, If you are working on an "Original", a Narrow Frame, Wide Frame, or Quiet Line tractor. You will be hard pressed to find a cheap drive shaft/clutch assy. You are going to have about $200.00 in a rebuilt unit. THE GOOD NEWS, you only have to do it about once every 40 years... Actually, now that I think about it... That works out to be about 5 bucks a year... And that really is pretty cheap! I just rebuilt and installed the clutch/drive shaft in my 12 hp 70 today, and believe me... It's like going steady with the prettiest girl in town. BTW, the sponsors at the top of the page should have everything you need to bring your old clutch back to brand new.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
