Default WOT Question?
I've been waiting forever to have the extra $ to purchase a Tiny Tach. I was finally able to order one 2 weeks ago.

I finally got a chance to work on the 1450 over the weekend. I set the throttle at 3600 RPM no load with the tiny tach. I noticed when I engage the PTO with a 44A deck mounted, the RPM (at WOT) would drop to around ~3000. Does this sound about right? If one has a tach available - would it be harmful to allow "room" at the top end for the extra 600 RPM? Ex. set the throttle at 3/4 WOT for 3600 RPM, so that with deck engaged the WOT would permit the extra 600 RPM?

RPM's dropping under load seems perfectly normal for any size engine. I'd not exceed the max RPM under any load condition.

that's what i thought the governor was for? if a generator was to drop RPM it wouldn't be at the right 60Hz cycle so it has to maintain 3600 rpm right? I really don't know just more questions

I think the governor is to attempt to keep it from dropping TOO low, and from over-revving.

Think of your car going up a steep hill pulling a trailer with the cruise control on. At some point, it's going to start slowing down in RPM even with cruise on, unless it downshifts, or unless you have a very powerful engine.

you may want to adjust your carb a little while underload. My 1450 WOT is no load is 3600rpm, turning on the 44A deck drops it to ~3500 rpm. While moving and cutting average grass height its about 3400-3450 rpm's. If the grass is very high and heavy I have seen it drop to 3200rpm's (she is working hard at this point)

Either way a few data points for you

I'm sorry - I did a cheesy install so I could move it around if I had to - nothing fancy at all - although I'm very happy with the product.
