Here in my neck of the woods, good luck getting anything close to what you have in a tractor. The people here will go to a box store and buy a fly by night brand, for $900 and take it to the scrap yard three years later, before they would spend that on a restored cub.
Good for me, that keeps the prices lower when I'm looking.

Another reason why cubs won't sell for more than $750 is most guys who have cubs want to buy ones that are cheap or don't run so they can have the fun of restoring it or trying to get it to run. Around me you don't see a cub for over 500 because people who have restored cubs keep them. Almost all of the cubs around me either don't run or need cosmetic work.

Good thread:
I will NEVER get the money out of the tractor and implements that I worked on this summer. Cubs are a fun to work on tractor that WE know will do work. I think some owners that are trying to sell them may have seen or heard about cubs used for pulling contests and feel these are real valuable machines. I paid $800 for my first cub in 1984 a 106 that had a good deck and a front plow blade. After one engine rebuild and several cosmetic upgrades it is still plowing snow. We are all looking for a fixer upper deal most days. my 2 cents Remember when they want more than you think its worth, ask if they will take a offer, if yes, cut there number in half and lots of times you will own it! Regards, Chris

Yep I was watching that one. I even asked for some pictures of the hole he said is in it by the impeller housing and of the augers. In the picture he had on ebay the auger looked to be bent up in couple places. The guy never responded to me. At that point one can only assume it is in worse shape then the seller wants to admit. Also ,not a big deal breaker, but no lift rod or bracket. I would have happily gave him $200 for it if he would have responded. For that price I can afford to put some time and money in it. I have been looking for a Habin power angle plow for a number of years now, the cheapest I found one was from Patton a while back. And it was near $600. I am now looking for a set up for a 3000 series ,like the one you had pictures of in the other thread, I think in the long run that is a much better option. And if built right, will work on any of my 82 series, not just the supers. ![]()

Congrats on finding the blower for your 982. Did you ever find anything out about that Meyer blade you got?

Ya just got to be at the right place @ the right time?
Picked up my #109, w/snow plow, snow thrower, extra belts, new parts, chains, wheel weights, at an estate sale for dirt cheap. I 've seen snow thrower's go for more. Buy a boat? Fall is the best bargain going. Owners want to get away in investing engine prep for Winter, storage, new insurance, blah, blah. I 've noticed many item's get re- listied cause some of these people live in fantasy land but also get lucky with a sell that is crazy. Nik, |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
