My kid is a welder/sheet metal fabricater. I was just talking to him about making me a set for the 126. I want him to put some louvers in the stock hood also. I gotta do some more thinking on it tho. Might like to get hold of an extra hood, just in case.

I would think that QL shields would work but you would have to modify the left side because of the PTO lever. The other side should fit if you have hydraulic lift. But you would have to drill a hole through (or weld to) the steering column for a bolt to hold the back on. No promises though, just my thoughts.

I think you'll cook the engine. All the Q-line and up have boxes around the muffler system and proper ducting around the heads for the airflow needed.

I agree with Oak, I think even if you cut louvers in the hood there's just too much heat contained around the motor...besides it's a good excuse to search out that next cub.

Good point on over heating! I guess if things were easy every one would do them. My new shed will just need to be bigger, the first one was 2/3 the size of my house!!! Good thing I'm single again.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
