I started out with my dad's Cub Cadet 105. I overhauled it when I was a freshman in high school and used it for my mowing business. Soon after my dad and I found a 107, which I also used in the mowing business. Senior year of high school I bought a 123 and overhauled it, and later bought two Originals. Every tractor since the 105 I brought home non-running, and just never sold them. Lately, with the collection peaking at 24, I started to sell some of the ones I fixed up. For me, its not necessarily about owning each model, its the thrill of finding one that dosent run and fixing it to see it work and move under its own power. I love fixing them, probably more than using them or parading them. They are a great start for a beginner mechanic because they are so simple and straightforward.

Ive learned that you can never be halfway into this hobby. Youre either out of it or FULL BLOWN into it

My addiction started way back in the early 60s when dad bought a shiny new original. We jury rigged a plow on it and made it do things the engineers never envisioned but we never could break it. Shortly after I got married I bought a slightly used 102 that had mower and snowthrower. Again I put that tractor through things that would have let a lesser tractor in pieces. My dad then found a 102 and brought it home. Dang if he didn't sell the original before I knew about it. When my dad went to yellow heaven I inherited his 102. I did have a 1420 lawn tractor but it did not hold up at all and I got rid of that and bought the 2084 and last year I also bought the 2086 and have had super days since then.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
