And I would "reweld" the shifter while it is out!!

What are those 1/2 - 3/4 moon discs with two holes? I have never had a NF apart.

Looks like for chains for hoisting/painting the rear end.

Todd,
You are well on your way to getting the 100 back together.
I had to buy a donor tractor to get my 147 back together. So no problem talking about that one too.
Thanks for posting the pictures.
What did you find when you got inside the new one (Rear end)?
Regards,
Chris

Your right again Duke, those are just brackets for lifting the trans axle.
Chris, I didn't dig to much into the trans, but just from looking in with a flashlight everything looks to be fine.
I'll "inspect" it better before I get all the grubby stuff off and wire wheeled to get all the paint off. Look at it this way, after doing the first one and learning how to go about it, this should be a roll in the park! Yah right.

Todd,
I always do things twice or three times anyway. Its nice we can find some spares to fix these old machines!
Sounds like you have some cleaning to do. I liked the Aircraft remover paint stripper. Still had to do a lot of scraping and wire brushing even with that!
Will be nice when you get the 100 back on four feet!
Regards,
Chris

Well I got the "old" transaxle from my 100 in the 102. Filled with fluid so I can move it around, got it put away in the cub barn. Just don't know what to do with it, I really don't need another one, but! Maybe sell it as is with the broken gear, if someone wants a project, don't know yet.
Next week get back at the 100, our rifle season opens this weekend, so there will be no cubbin over the weekend. I opened up the rear and shifter on the 102's transaxle to check out the gears before I start removing the oil and paint, everything looked good.
I see there seems to be quite a bit of gathered up dirt around the right side of the trans. would that be a gasket thing? Seeing I have it on the bench, would it be a good idea to replace both of the axle tube gaskets?

All you need to find is a 4' 8" tall transmission repairman who needs a tractor!

Congrats on the swap. Sure is a nice looking 102 also!

Since you've got it out and drained anyway, I'd change the axle tube gaskets, axle seals, and brake puck O-ring to ensure you won't have any issues with them later on.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
