1970 to 1973 was a great time to be in the US Navy, floating around the Med on 3400 tons of steel. 26,000 HP. And the ship was only 40 feet wide. She was zippy.

They taught me to weld and be frugal, pay was $66 every 2 weeks until Zumwalt started to up our pay.

Lots of 5" shells fired, ...............

You think a 35 year old Cub Cadet is hard to start, try hand cranking a P250 fire fighting pump that has been stored covered in salt water!! While breathing through an OBA!!!

AH, the memories!!

Well said everyone. We have two serving now, one we don't know because it's all hush, hush. The other is in Afghanistan.
God bless our troops, today's and yesterday's.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
