Mufflers
Since getting my 169 i have found out that the original muffler is no longer available. The privious owner has installed a quietline muffler, and other than cutting a hole in a perfectly good grill for the outlet did a nice job. My only problem is i don't like the sound. Its way to quiet and it doesnt have a nice tone like the 149. Why cant i put a muffler from a 149 on this? The only answer i have been able to get so far from reading what i could find on the web is its not big enough. It would restrict it to much.
Unless i am not taking everything into consideration here, The only thing i see just by looking is the elbow comming out of the 169 into the muffler does look bigger. The muffler part itself on the 149 is as big around as the one on my Allis-Chalmers CA. And your are running 4 cylinders through it. I really like the way the 149 sounds with its muffler. Thats why i am wondering about putting one like it on the 169. Any ideas or suggestions appriciated 149 muffler  149 muffler  169 with quietline muffler  Hole in the grill for the outlet  This elbow does look bigger where it threads into the block.  Other than being longer the muffler part on the CA is same as 149
