If the tractor has the internal brake, the plunger could be stuck in the set position.

Ended up having to pull the pump and found two of the pistons on the output side of the pump had seized in their bores and the slipper region plate was slightly bent. Was able to get everything freed up and the plate straightened, now just need to reassemble.
Question I now have is do you need to use the paper gasket between the halves of the pump or can you just substitute rtv gasket maker? Wasn't sure if the paper gasket acted as some sort of shim or not? Also, do you need the paper gasket on the back of the differential or can rtv be used here? Thanks to everyone for their help. Getting closer to having this tractor running again |

I always use RTV on the differential cover, never a problem.
No experience with the hydro gasket. If you need the "cork" gasket, here's an ebay source.... https://www.ebay.com/itm/296123081703?var=594235288350 |

Yes, RTV can be used on the rear cover.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
