Well I took Poor 104 owner and Matts advice and tore into the rear today And I`m glad I did it wasn`t the bearing in the rear end it was the pump.
I`ll let the pictures explain itself. 2012-06-20 16.43.38.jpg Got the pump off 2012-06-20 16.43.59.jpg People make disassembling a pump sound like a bigger job than it really is . 2012-06-20 16.44.03.jpg Here is the main pump (Hmm wonder why it wouldn`t go) ![]() 2012-06-20 16.44.16.jpg Here is the charge pump 2012-06-20 16.44.21.jpg Look at the difference between the two its hard to believe those pistons are supposed too look alike. 2012-06-20 16.44.39.jpg Three pistons come off the push rods and clobbered the retaining ring. 2012-06-20 16.44.44.jpg The bearing I thought that had failed. 2012-06-20 16.45.31.jpg Input shaft 2012-06-20 16.45.36.jpg 2012-06-20 16.46.10.jpg Took all off these pics just to let everybody know what the inside of the pump looks like who has never been in one before. Oh yeah and I`m going to get a replacement pump for it sometime next week.

Taking it apart is the easy part, getting it all back together and having it work can be tricky! Keeping everything clean putting it together is the hardest part, the smallest piece of lint or dirt can cause issues.

Usually when the slippers come off like that, it had been towed fast, or run too fast cold, causing cavatation or just plum worn out.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
