Greetings all.. my first time on here. long story short.. have two cubs. 1975 Cub Cadet 1200 & 1976 Cub Cadet 1200. 1976 was acquired from my dad's neighbor when he passed. 1975 was my dad's.
History: 75 ran up until about 4 yrs ago. parked it. Decided to resurect it.. towed to garage. battery dead. put charger on it to have power to play with. I have power to elec lift, power to solenoid, but no power out of solenoid to starter. Replaced grounds, replace hot wire to starter. Power at the coil. Already done: (all these were swaps from the 76 that runs to MY 75.) swapped coils, swapped solenoids, swapped ignition switch. EVERYTHING that i "think" could be the problem. With all those parts on the opposite machines, the 76 still runs, the 75 still has no power to the starter. (engine will turn / not locked up) I'm at a loss here, short of pulling all wiring out and starting from scratch. (yes, i checked all the fuses and replaced) Any helpful hints? |

When you have the key in the start position is there power coming out of the solenoid ? Did you check the wire running from the solenoid to the s/g for continuity?

S/g = starter generator but I just realized yours just has a starter.

ahh, duh... sorry.. it does have a generator also i believe..that's what keeps battery charged right? but, yes, i did replace the hot wire coming from the solenoid to the starter.. completely bypassed the factory one. when i jump the solenoid, the engine turns.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
