I'm leaning toward #5 or #6. I'm pretty sure the deck will be black in any scheme.
Here's the original photo Bryan supplied me of his sweet 1450 (Thanks Bryan!) ![]() I'm thinking I'll write a tutorial on this so if anyone's interested, they can try out different schemes on their tractor. Now that I've figured it out, it's not that hard. |

Dave looking good! Here's what I would suggest.
The black International gets lost in all the black on the hood. Try going back to the white lettering to make them pop. The black strip under the hood needs to change to white or yellow. That area is sunken in and black makes it look deeper then what it really is. White hood but keep your black decals with white lettering for the International. Just some thoughts. ![]() |

Dave,
The yellow and black does have a CAT theme. But it is a completely differrent look. What would it look like if some or all of the black was white? As I paint my project 147 red. I keep asking myself if after all this work maybe I should have kept it original colors too? Your tractor will look great in what ever paint theme you use. But that is a very sweet looking 1450 that you used as a model. I do know where there is one of those nearby too. Humm? I assume the 1450 has hydraulic lift for attachments is that correct? No power sterring? Regards, Chris

Chris, you are correct. The 1450 has hydraulic lift, but no power steering.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
