Default Serial Numbers

I looked in the technical section but didn't see anything.
Does anyone know if there is a way to identify what a tractor is by the number on the tag either on the side of the frame or the rearend?

CubCrazy... I think that info is on here somewhere...maybe Admin can help locate it..

However, there are several of us who can read those data plates and can tell you what the digits/letters mean.

Just post your question...

Myron,

The last 6 are 341688 which looks like it was built may of 1970.
The question I have is what model it was when it came from the factory?

To identify a Cub through it's Serial Number you will have to have to whole number.

For example........... 1234567 U 123456

The First Seven Digits are the IH "Kind Code" that will ID the model.

Post your Serial Number and we will look into the charts,

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
