It's probably just part of the hieroglyphics Kohler used in their casting molds to keep track of what was going on, and to be able to identify issues with a certain run of castings, or something like that. In other words, meaningless to you and I.

Depending on if they are stamped or cast, those numbers/letters could be anything from what batch of molten iron the block was poured from to the line that the engine was assembled on, might even be a code for the date that it was poured or assembled.
Unless you talk to someone who was there, you will probably never find out.

Hi, Hope your redo goes smoothly.
![]() From the pic that you posted, you have a block from a 1450. Thats why you have the dipstick block-off plate. Another clue is all the holes that are drilled and tapped for the electric PTO. The black color of the block could have meant a "service block/engine" or the color that most quietline engines were painted.:biggrin2.gif: FFGino. Happy Cubbing!! |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
