I've got a 682 roller that I've decided on repowering with a ch18s.
photo 1.jpg The donor is a rusted out 2185. photo 5.jpg Several other members have already done this conversion, and made it easier for others to follow your lead. I already know the wiring is gonna be an issue for me, so i'm going to get motor mounted, then tackle that. I was hoping that someone may have a laymans wiring schematic to help me muddle through the swap. I am going to use this tractor for mowing, so I swapped the pto from the KT17. The 682 S/N2050600u743397. And the 2185's S/N 385633. Any help will be greatly appreciated. |

Was that the 2185 off of CL in Bham? That was a great deal if you got that one. I'm sure someone will help you out here. Welcome to OCC.

It's easier to use the 682 wiring with a couple minor mods, ask me how I know.

This is a list of the parts you will need to do the CH swap. This is what is used on an 1864 and it makes the swap almost a bolt in. Try the sponsors for the parts.

That way you don’t have to go out and buy an adapter to bolt the shaft to the back of the engine. The 2000 series drive couplers are pretty bullet proof and they don’t need any maintenance.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
