Default 1863 Starting Trouble

I believe that I have seen a post before on here about starting issues with the cyclops cubs but I am unable to find it with a search...

For some time now when turning the key to start, I only get a click. It may happen once, twice or several times before it actually turns over to start. My battery is good, no problems there. Where do I go from there? Switch or something else? Figured since my grass is all brown and I have some down time it would be good to get whatever is wrong repaired, gets old turning the key several times before it will turn over. Thanks.

The first place I would start is the Battery Cables. Make sure, that each cable is clean, bright, and tight on each end.

And I'll add to that, connections on the back of the ignition switch.
An intermittent electrical problem is hard to trace/find because you can't fix what is not broken @ the time.
A starter solenoid, over years can and does corrode/ark internally as is the nature of it's operation and can cause that problem also.
I don't think there is an easy way to correct the problem when it is not occurring, short of replacing everything in the starting circuit.
Even worn brushes in a starter can cause that condition.
As a long shot, when it acts up and just "clicks" hold the key in the start position for a while. then feel for a warm or hot connection in the starting circuit.
it don't always work, but is about the only thing you can do short of replacing a lot of good components.
It is nice if you have a donor/ similar tractor that you can substitute components with out having to buy them.

Check the wire connections as described above. If that doesn't fix it, I recommend you take this route to fix your problem.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
