Default What is this bracket 1872?

Not sure what this bracket is for its galvanized, its about 6" long it came with the 1872 in a unmarked box. Something for the plow? Or a flux capacitater

Looks like the rockshaft support brace, part# HA-14297. It is NLA. Feel free to send it to me, or install it on your 1872, along with the front blade.

It's for locking the rock shaft so you can power down the blade so it does not float like a mower deck needs to.

No... it's not for power down, it's for added lifting strength. It ties the inner and outer rockshaft together. You have to install a "float lockout" pin to make it power down.

Woody, check out this thread. It has pics.

I see now. A picture speaks a thousand words. It makes for a really short thread though LOL Thanks!
UPDATE I made it out to the garage to check the rock shaft brace and discovered it may be to late to put it on. The previous owner ran without it as did I not knowing what it was. The deck lift tabs on the rock shaft appear to be slightly tweaked from side to side and the hole in the brace doesn't line up with the hole in the bracket that's on the outside of the frame. The bracket is about a half a whole out of alignment. Im not sure this causes any major issues other then I cant use this bracket and will,
A- either have to repin the rock shaft
OR
B- have to make a new bracket with the hole adjusted to the new position.
Some where along the line someone has welded a piece of angle to the rock shaft ears (from on side to the other)I suppose to address a sheered pin issue?

Rockshaft brace. Never mount a blade or front equipment without it!

On my 1872.

This is what it prevents.

Nope that is done by adding a bolt to the rock shaft arm inside the frame rails.

This bracket just connects the weak front lift arm to the much stronger deck lift arm for those heavy blowers and blades a super can handle.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
