This is the first Quietline I have ever owned or even seen running. With minor carb work I got it started. Starts very easy and seems to run fairly well with no smoke at all. When starting and idling the engine seems to shake more than I think it should. Is there an easy way to tell if the rubber mounts are bad without taking the engine out? The PTO switch is not moving. I am not familiar with the electric PTO/clutch at all. Not sure if the switch is just rusted or if I have a more serious problem. Good news is, when it is running the Hydro seems to work very good, but as with every hydro I have brought home, it needs a cork casket. That will be a rainy day project.

Mine shakes, too, especially at idle. Tends to smooth out at full throttle. (I had the same question when I first started mine).
To move the PTO switch, pull the little handle up, then push forward. As for the iso mounts, you can look at them with a flashlight. If they are collapsed or cracked (as the probably are) you'll want to replace them.

Yep those 1650's are known to shake pretty good at anything other than full throttle. I would check the drive line also. The rubber disks may need to be replaced and the front and rear drive shaft bushings probably need to be replaced also.

Mine hardly shakes at idle to a quarter and from three quarters to full. Its uust got a mid range rattle to it. You get used to it over time . Its just the nature of the beast

It's a big single piston engine. That's what they do.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
