Played with the 1200 this weekend.

I put a shortblock in this thing bout 8 years ago. Figured it was time to decarbon the chamber. Course I had to modify stuff while I was in there. When I carried all my K321 stuff to the machine shop I had taken an extra head. Had .040 taken off both the extra head and the K321 head. The extra head now resides on the K301. Seems to be much smoother and the throttle response is improved. I also found the muffler was toast. So I put the 1450's muffler on. The 1450 is gonna get a custom built muffler anyhow.

K301 old head on top. Head with #2 is now on the K301. Head on right is going on the K321.

And a little score this weekend. A stripped 44" deck to replace my rust bucket

When I get a chance I will get pics up of the rest of the K321 block and such post machine shop. Bored .020 and a new set of valves, had the intake ground at 30 degrees. Bout the only thing I have left that is preventing me from putting the K321 back together is getting the cash together to send my cam to a place in Ohio to regrind and put an adjustable ignition lobe on. Hope to be going back together in a couple of months.

Can't wait to get the grill and hood back on the 1200 so I can go test the new head out in the lawn. Gonna run it for 20-30 minutes tomorrow and then retorque the headbolts, then put the sheetmetal back on.

What did you use to clean up the block, piston, and valves? Looks brand new!

Brake clean, pocket screwdriver, wire brush and a 3M fiber wheel and my die grinder. Looks kinda like a green scrubby pad.

I remember using them as an automotive tech years ago. We called them Scotch-Loc's. Thanks for the info Battlewagon!:beerchug:

whats the point of an adjustable ignition lobe? If you are using it, then its still for points, and you adjust timing there. I must be missing something.:bigthink:
