Strange Lurch on the 1772

No, I'm not talking about the Addams Family..... My 1772 has started some strange behavior BUT only when it is first run after startup while it is still cool. After I have been mowing for 15 - 30 minutes, the problem disappears. When I stop and then start to move forward, the tractor lurches as if I moved the control forward a lot. In some instances when I have the tractor near an edge on the driveway or street, the tractor starts to jog between forward and reverse. I usually have to move the control a little more than usual to get out of that area, then the jogging stops. Once warmed up and hot, the issue goes away. Last year, the relief valves started leaking. I had them rebuilt, but I seriously doubt it is connected in any way.
Thanks,
Frank

Possibly in need oil and filter change?

Loose, dirty or out adjustment linkage.

I had something similar happen on my 982 and I found a broken spring on the hydro damper plate assembly.

Thanks, I'll start with checking the spring as it is still the original. Just to be sure, these are springs 932-3012 and 932-3013? if I find they are ok, then change the filter and oil. The linkages don't feel sloppy so I hope it's one of the other.

I would check the level of hydraulic fluid before changing it. The spring on the damper plate may be broken but also the damper plate itself can be badly worn so a new spring will not completely solve the problem.
