XT3 Idler Pulley Greasing Tip
5 Attachment(s)
Today I noticed the 2 idler pulleys for the mower belt on the front of the tractor seemed dry and almost gritty feeling, not smooth at all. They only have about 25-30 hours of use at most because I don’t mow with this tractor. So I removed them with the idea of popping off the bearing seal snd greasing them. Using a tiny screw driver the seal came off easily without damage and I pumped grease into the bearings that were both starved for grease. See pictures attached. I presume other idler pulleys on the mower deck can be greased the same way. One pictures shows the replacement pulley from Cub Cadet is $60.99 ea… Ouch, not cheap to replace. Hope it works and it saves someone on this forum a bit of cash. May Jesus bless you all.

Good idea to grease sealed bearings. I have a needle zerk so I don’t have to remove the seal to lube sealed bearings

I use diabetic syringes, been injecting grease in sealed bearings for over 65 years.
It is very rare that I have to replace a bearing. :beerchug: |
Hah! So I tried to buy some syringes to grease my bearings.
Da man come and took me away. I toll da judge, "Man, all I wanna do is grease my bearings" . Dat judge slam dat damn hammer and sez "90 days". |
