oil light on a 5252
so the other day I was grading our driveway with a 6 foot landscape rake on the back and it was dark I noticed the oil pressure light came on but I wasn't very bright it is so dim you cant tell its on in daylight the engine still sounds normal and has a good oil level with no gas in it mine has the 25hp Kohler command the switch is dim when the key is in the on position with the engine off as well is this a bad oil pressure switch or bad wiring? thanks,

Does your engine have the Oil Sentry ?
Any signs of oil leakage around or under engine ? My first course of action would be to change oil , you do not mention if it was full you just say it has a good level |
It looks like your machine has a few wiring harness plugs that could be an issue. I'd pull them apart and make sure they have good connections. I'm not a fan of oil lights, I'd put an oil pressure gauge on it.
Here is the wiring diagram for your machine. https://www.ccpartsnmore.com/cub-cad...ing-schematics |
Check all of your electrical connections, and for oil leaks first.
But put a known good mechanical gauge on your unit and double check you have good oil pressure. |
