1862 power steering

Hello,

I have a cub cadet 1862 that the steering is heavy, and at a particular point it takes great effort to turn the steering wheel.
My second 1862 and 2182 I can steer with one finger. Any ideas what is going on, or how to fix it?

Does the front tires respond quickly when you turn the steering wheel?

try swapping the cylinder from 1 of your other tractors and see if that fixes it

Yes the tires react when I turn the wheel

Are you thinking that the cylinder is bad?

More info

Disconnected the cylinder rod from wheel. Wheels move free, steering wheel still turns hard. Is it the cylinder? or steering mechanism?

When the cylinder is bad, you move the steering wheel and the tires do not respond quickly, there is a delay because fluid is bypassing the piston in the cylinder. That does not sound like what you are experiencing.

I am with Dale C, swap a cylinder from another tractor.

Steering is better

I used PB blaster on the steering shaft coupling and the steering is much easier.

Thanks

Steve
