1862 power steering
Hello,
I have a cub cadet 1862 that the steering is heavy, and at a particular point it takes great effort to turn the steering wheel. My second 1862 and 2182 I can steer with one finger. Any ideas what is going on, or how to fix it? Steve |
Does the front tires respond quickly when you turn the steering wheel?
|
try swapping the cylinder from 1 of your other tractors and see if that fixes it
|
Yes the tires react when I turn the wheel
|
Are you thinking that the cylinder is bad?
|
More info
Disconnected the cylinder rod from wheel. Wheels move free, steering wheel still turns hard. Is it the cylinder? or steering mechanism?
|
When the cylinder is bad, you move the steering wheel and the tires do not respond quickly, there is a delay because fluid is bypassing the piston in the cylinder. That does not sound like what you are experiencing.
I am with Dale C, swap a cylinder from another tractor. |
Steering is better
I used PB blaster on the steering shaft coupling and the steering is much easier.
Thanks Steve |
