Correct Oil Drain Plug Gasket
In the process of rebuilding my Kohler K321 for my 1450 IH Cub, I noticed that the oil drain plug gasket is rotten and needs replaced. I can't tell what type of gasket it is and I've looked in several different spots without finding the answer, so I came here. Hopefully someone on here can tell me what type of gasket to get, thanks in advance.

It's just a common 3/8" tapered pipe tread.
Get a plug from any plumbing shop, hardware store or farm store. That's what all my Cubs have in them for plugs. no gasket involved. You must have the original plug with the now rotten fiber gasket This is what i use. |
Make sure you have a good fitting wrench and don't over tighten the plug.I have a 8 point socket which ends up to fit the corners, instead of the two flats,I feel its a better solution

Should I just replace the plug and not get a new gasket?
Or either way is okay? |

I just happen to be changing oil in my 1200.
Here is what i use, just a nylon washer. Take your oil plug with you to any decent hardware store and they will fix you up. I also like to epoxy a magnet to the end of the plug to collect metal particles. |
