Hydraulic Fluid and Hydro fan for 149
Has anyone used Travellers Hydraulic fluid for their IH 149? If so, any problems? Does the Fan on the driveshaft pull air over the pump from the rear to cool? Is the fan mounted with the locking ring facing the pump or the engine? Thanks in advance for your help and have a great day.

I have used it for years with no problems, but I change it every 2-3 years. Does the Fan on the driveshaft pull air over the pump from the rear to cool? No, it blows air over the hydro cooling fins from front to back. Is the fan mounted with the locking ring facing the pump or the engine? I forget. :RedFace2: |
I can't remember either, but the fan needs to blow rearward as mentioned, so the radius of the blades (lift if it were an airplane wing)
would be on toward the front of the tractor And I also use tractor supply's universal hyd fluid. Do not use anyone's "303" hyd fluid. You can also use automatic transmission fluid type"F" as specified by the hydro manufacture, Sundstrand. |

Thanks to all that replied to my questions and thank you IronMan for the picture. I have trouble visualizing things now and that picture really helps.

Ironman that’s a great looking machine. I wish mine still had factory IH size tires.
